It's not easy to write adverts for the Brits. They're cleverer than us Yankees, so you have to be extra smart. Fortunately, this ad struck a chord with them, leading to massive discussion online around the world – and a massive influx of UK lads to the City of Sin.
Someone posted it to Reddit. It soon topped the homepage with over 5,000 upvotes and nearly 1,000 comments. Someone else posted it again and it topped the Reddit homepage again, topping out at double the upvotes and comments.
Sir Richard Branson fancied it.
It also hit the front page of Imgur, with over 1.3 million views and hundreds of comments.
After I left the agency, the campaign was extended with a contest to find the Brit who could say "What happens here, stays here" most seductively for a chance to win a Vegas trip. People were recorded saying the tagline in a booth and their performances were posted to a microsite for the public to vote on.
