ABOUT DAN SORGEN

I’m an ex-New Yorker who fled to LA after a few too many apocalyptic winters. A small agency found me on their doorstep and I refused to leave.

Since then, I’ve worked at well-known shops, built and led creative teams, taught ad classes, worked with crazy smart people (who were sometimes both at once), won awards, won new business, won an office talent show, and oversaw campaigns for billion-dollar companies, including Toyota, Disney, Norwegian Cruise Line, Diageo, Coldwell Banker, Microsoft, Yamaha, Cox, W Hotels, Jack Daniel’s, Western Digital, Blizzard Games, and others.

Oh, and I never returned to NY in the winter again.

Mostly, I live to create ideas people talk about, and lead other creatives to do the same. It’s why I created SpecBank.com, a popular resource for creatives and directors to produce conceptual TV spots to grow their careers.

My work’s been recognized by major award shows, ad publications, national news outlets, and occasional randos at parties, but my proudest achievement is hitting the top of the Reddit homepage. Twice.

I've also published an underground newspaper, toured the world playing the violin, and created a few mildly successful dotcoms. And although my last name is German for "sorrows," I always find the bright side of life, proving irony isn’t dead.

I’m currently freelancing for agencies, brands, and startups, but I’m also open to full-time opportunities. Let’s chat.
